I wish that we lived in that perfect world where we all freely share information and the day to day work of living. After all, that is Permaculture’s third ethic; share the surplus. Sadly, I have yet to figure out how to make it happen! A blog comes close. I (as most bloggers), do give out my information and instruction for free to anyone who chooses to read along. That’s the part we have right.
And then there is the reality of life at the moment part. It takes money to run a blog. It also takes money to keep a roof over my head and pay taxes, etc. No matter how frugal and creative we get as homesteaders, there will always be a few things we need a bit of money for!
These are the ways that little cottage journey makes money:
Sometimes in the content of a post, I will mention a book or product that I truly believe to be of good quality and/or value. If you click on this item, it will take you out to another site where you can purchase that item. If you make a purchase (that item or any other usually), I get a small commission for sending the sale to that company. It doesn’t cost you one cent extra. In essence that company is paying me to be an advertiser. Amazon is one of my affiliates and here the official disclosure:
“Lisa Duncan (little cottage journey) is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com”
You will also see a few ‘floating’ ads here and there on most of my posts. Those are ads that the company I use places there for me. They try to look at the content of the posts and pop in advertising that is appropriate to the content. As I do not get to pre-screen these, I may or may not personally endorse them.
I am a flesh and blood person. As such, the thoughts and opinions that I express on this blog are mine and do not in any way represent those of my employers, groups, or organizations that I belong to.
Life is fluid. Things change; including my thoughts and opinions. With that in mind, posts may be updated from time to time.
